Santa Monica Primary Care Adds New Clinical Staff in Our Expanded Space

Long-standing patients of Santa Monica Primary Care have had the same reaction when opening the door to our newly renovated space – Wow.

They are coming in through the same door at the end of the hallway, marked Suite 230, but there is a whole new feel. Beginning last year, we remodeled our existing space and expanded into the adjacent suite. We added additional exams rooms, and opened up the entire bank of west facing windows making entry into our waiting room a bright and welcoming experience. We have never been an office that wished to greet you with a closed glass window, but now our front desk is even more open with a beautiful Santa Monica backdrop.

In addition to our new space, we now have more clinical staff to accommodate the growing needs of our patients. Along with Dr. Bretsky, we have two Physician Assistants (PAs) – Sandra Ovadia and Jillian Payne. Both of our Physician Assistants have many years of experience not only in Primary Care, but also in diverse specialties including Uro-Gynecology, Thoracic Surgery, and Emergency Medicine.

In general, PAs play a broad and expanding role in our health care system, working in a variety of practice settings. At Santa Monica Primary Care our Physician Assistants perform a wide range of duties, including providing routine care, treating acute and chronic illnesses, managing transitions of care, and performing Well Woman examinations and in-office procedures. They can evaluate, diagnose and treat conditions, and prescribe medications in the same way a physician can. One of the most unique aspects of the PAs is that they both bring a team-based model of medicine to Santa Monica Primary Care.

With a new space, a broader array of clinical options, and the same welcoming atmosphere to which our patients have become accustomed to, we look forward to continuing to provide the best possible primary care to the Westside community and beyond.
